The best advice would be to go down to the local motorcycle dealerships and sit on a bunch of bikes. At first any motorcycle will feel too big and heavy but you get used to the heft and feel of a bike quickly. I have seen folks more petite than you riding fairly big bikes such as Harleys, Gold Wings, BMWS, etc.
Obviously you are interested in the Savage. I am quite a bit bigger than you but I prefer small light bikes myself. I think the Savage is a really nice size. Not so small that you can't be safe riding it on the freeway, but still very light and easy to handle.
